On June 17, 2020, the second meeting of the representatives of the Aquasan Network in BiH was held with the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Republika Srpska on the implementation of the Project “Policy Dialogue and Skills Development in the Wastewater Sector of the Republika Srpska”.
During the meeting, they discussed the component of the "Policy Dialogue" project, which is aimed at supporting relevant stakeholders in Republika Srpska in mapping the essential challenges related to wastewater collection and treatment and formulating recommendations for policy improvement to address them. In this regard, legal expert will be engaged to support the review of the regulatory framework for the provision of water services and the assessment of previously proposed solutions to improve the regulatory framework in relation to applicable laws and bylaws in RS. They also discussed the component of the project "Skills and Competence Development" which will be implemented through three peer exchange events between Swiss and BiH operators for wastewater treatment plants (WWTP). For the realization of these project activities, two field visits are planned, to the WWTP in Bijeljina and Trebinje.
The Project “Policy Dialogue and Skills Development in the Wastewater Sector of the Republika Srpska” contributes to the dialogue on policies at the state, entity and local levels by supporting and strengthening the Association for Water and Environmental Protection "Aquasan Network in BiH". The project is funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), and is implemented in cooperation with the Swiss Water Association (VSA).
