Nomination and selection of trainers and moderators for the RCDN capacity development program with specific focus in the field of wastewater collection and treatment


The project Regional Capacity Development Network (RCDN) for Water and Sanitation Services which aims at increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the water utilities in the Western Balkans has established RCDN pool of trainers, moderators and advisors (PTMA). The pool registers 103 experienced trainers and moderators from the water and sanitation services and wastewater treatment sector from the Western Balkans who are available to support RCDN partner associations, Local Government Associations (LGAs) and Association of Public Utility Companies (APUCs) in the development and delivery of RCDN Capacity Development (CD) products.

Currently, three comprehensive CD programs in the field of wastewater collection and treatment are under development and the test phase of implementation will begin in 2021. Trainings, in accordance with RCDN Quality Standards, will be carried out in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Northern Macedonia, and selected trainers and moderators will participate in the contextualization and implementation of this RCDN program.

In order for that to be possible, a process of nomination and selection of trainers and moderators for capacity development has been initiated, with a specific focus on of wastewater collection and treatment, ie. planning, development and implementation of Waste Water Collection and Treatment, infrastructure projects and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) of Waste Water Treatment Plants. The RCDN base will be further expanded with wastewater experts, and one of the main features will be to improve the managerial and leadership skills of PUCs and LGUs for increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the public utility companies (PUC) and improving the waste water collection and treatment service provision in the Western Balkans. In addition, the focus will be on trainers and moderators with different expertise and work experience, and on a methodology that combines theoretical and practical experience in conducting capacity development trainings for adult learners, local government and the water services sector. As part of this process, Aquasan nominated 9 trainers of different professions and professional experience.

The selection process is expected to be completed by the end of September, when generic training will begin, followed by specific / professional training for trainers.
