The objective of the Training of Trainers organized by the Association for Water and Environmental Protection "Aquasan Network in BiH" in the period from June 28 to July 2 2021 was to raise the level of knowledge and capacity of selected trainers for the delivery of the Capacity Development Program for Financing Municipal Water Supply and Sanitation Services. The training gathered selected trainers from the Association "Vodovodi Republike Srpske", the Association of Employers of Utility Companies in the Federation of BiH and the Association of Municipalities and Cities of the Federation of BiH.
Through a five-day training held in Bihać, selected trainers improved their knowledge of managing the financial aspects necessary to foster an understanding of how to effectively manage revenues and ensure cost recovery, including accounting practices, asset management, setting water service prices, estimating investments, and accessing different sources of financing. Also, the selected trainers are able to effectively deliver the Capacity Development Program for Financing Municipal Water Supply and Sanitation Services and are able to link and update the CD Program Financing Municipal Water Supply and Sanitation Services with other existing CD programs in the water services sector.
The Capacity Development Program for Financing Municipal Water Supply and Sanitation Services is based on training materials developed by the World Bank at the global level, adopted and improved by the Aquasan Network in BiH according to the context in BiH and in order to contribute to the modernization of the PUCs participating in the program.
According to the results of the evaluation conducted after the fifth day of training, all participants agreed that the topics and contents of the training of trainers are relevant to their work. For 79% of participants, the training fully met their expectations. More than 77% of them know how they can transfer the acquired knowledge to their colleagues. All participants are fully satisfied with the teaching and learning methods that confirm that the content and results of individual sessions were clear and that they were able to present their own experience and examples during the five-day training. The average score for all trainers (individually) and for the moderator is 5.9 out of 6, and 100% of participants are satisfied with the overall organization of the training.
