The third in a series of trainings for trainers for non-revenue water management was organized on July 5 to July 8, 2021 in Bihać, within the program "Danube Learning Partnership- D-LeaP". The general objective of the training was to improve the knowledge and skills of participants for non-revenue water management through the application of new approaches and methodologies and the latest trends in non-revenue water management with the aim of developing regional capacities.
The four-day training covered the following topics: methodology and guidelines for successful training, training design, water balance, water supply network mapping in GIS software, effective zoning (establishment of DMA zones), water supply pressure management, as well as active leak detection (failures). The whole training was conceived as an interactive training in combination with theoretical lectures and practical exercises with the active participation of all training participants. The training participants were demonstrated practical work with equipment for detection of losses in the water supply network, and how to use data from measuring devices. A special training session was dedicated to the development of an action plan for non-revenue water management for the purpose of short-term and long-term planning of reducing losses in water supply systems.
The training of trainers was organized by a technical partner, the company Resource Center for Water and Environment, Una Consulting d.o.o. from Bihać (BiH) and the International Association of Water Supply Companies in the Danube River Catchment Area (IAWD), and the Aquasan Network in BiH provided support in organizing this event. Also, the Aquasan network has successfully completed 3 cycles of training for companies from BiH, in the period from 2017 to 2019.
